This video demonstrates how to upload an ISO to ftp.infinitelyvirtual.com and mount it as a CD/DVD on your VM with the vSphere Client.
Hello and welcome to this Infinitely Virtual training video. In this tutorial we will learn how to upload an ISO and mount it in a virtual machine.
ISO images of CDs or DVDs can be uploaded to the Infinitely Virtual FTP site, then the ISO can be mounted in the CD/DVD drive of any Virtual Server. Each client has their own client folder on the FTP server, but there are no security restrictions on the FTP folders, they are accessible to any Infinitely Virtual client. The FTP server can be accessed from Windows Explorer or any FTP client, for example Filezilla, WS-FTP, Qute FTP, or any others. These instructions refer to using Windows Explorer,
Open Windows Explorer and go to ftp.infinitelyvirtual.com. Enter the username and password you received when your Infinitely Virtual account was set up. Check the ‘Save Password’ option and login. If the connection times out, open Internet Explorer go to ‘Tools/Options/Advance’ tab and uncheck the ‘Use passive FTP’ option. Click ‘OK’ and close Internet Explorer. Open up Windows Explorer and try accessing the FTP site again. After successfully logging into the FTP server, the contents of your client folder will be displayed in Windows Explorer. You can drag and drop or copy and paste files and folders into the FTP server. Open the VMware vSphere Client from ‘Start’ or ‘Programs/VMware.’ Enter the username and password you received when your Infinitely Virtual account was set up. The IP address is vcenter01.infinitelyvirtual.com. If you receive a certificate warning, put a check mark in the ‘Install this certificate and do not display any security warnings’ option and click ‘Ignore.’ Click on ‘VMs and Templates’ in the ‘Inventory’ section. Right click on your sever and select ‘Edit Settings.’ Highlight ‘CD/DVD Drive 1’ under Device Type. Select ‘Datastore ISO File’ option and click on ‘Browse.’ Scroll down to ‘Storage04_FTP’ and click ‘Open.’ Highlight ‘OPS’ and click ‘Open.’ Scroll down to your account name, highlight it, and click ‘Open.’ Highlight the ‘ISO Image to Mount’ in the CD/DVD drive and click ‘OK.’ Put check marks in the ‘Connected’ and ‘Connect at Power on’ options in the device status section and click ‘OK.’ The selected ISO is now accessible from the CD/DVD drive of the Virtual Server. When finished using the ISO and you wish to return the CD/DVD to normal operation, open ‘vCenter’ right click on your server and select ‘Edit Settings.’ Highlight ‘CD/DVD Drive 1’ under Device Type, select ‘Client Device’ option and click ‘OK.’
