One of our peers has determined the cause of the connectivity issues, and they believe they have determined the root cause. We will monitor this situation to verify that it has in fact been fixed.

All VMs have been booted. System performance on one SAN is slow due to the rapid restart of many VMs. We expect this to clear up by this morning.

The routing issue was in fact our layer 3 switches. Their malfunction caused a severe crash in VMs on one of our SANs. We were aware of a problem a couple weeks ago, and Juniper recommended upgrading the Junos. The maintenance window was scheduled, in part, to install this Junos.

During the outage, Junos has been upgraded. Affected VMs are booting.

Connectivity to some parts of the Internet is impaired. We are working with our upstream providers to fix the problem. We will update the blog as soon as we know what the problem is.
